Reverend Michael Clare, a former New York minister, was convicted of the raping of two teenage girls, one of whom belonged to his congregation.
Clare, who was the pastor of the Harvest Worship Centre International in the Bronx, admitted performing the acts with a 13 year old girl in 2007 and then a 14 year old later. Clare is from Jamaica and after pleading guilty will under the terms of the plea deal be sentenced to five years in prison, will be registered as a sex offender and also faces deportation.
In a statement, Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson said the victim?s wishes were considered for the plea deal.
