President of the Scouts Association of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Morrison Baisden, says gay and lesbian scout leaders will not be tolerated in the organization and like the World Scout Movement, the local body has been affected by the "specter" of homosexuality and likewise took the decision of zero tolerance.
It was said number of well trained leaders and other persons were asked to leave and that the local scout movement has been affected by pressures to improve even as financing has declined. The position of the local movement is the same as the World Organisation of Scout Movements and they cannot have leaders that are homosexuals, but if boys show a tendency toward homosexuality they will not deny them participation in the Movement and the policy is the same for lesbians. There are also steps to help prevent the abuse of children.
