UN Sends Help To Flooded Guyana

Monday, January 31, 2005

The United Nations World Food Program is sending enough food for 10,000 of the people worst-affected by the floods in Guyana.

WFP, promised to provide 112 tons of food, including highly nutritious biscuits that do not require cooking, to feed 10,000 people for one month.

The total cost of the donation is estimated at $387,000. More rains are predicted in the next few days and forecasted high tides along the low-lying Atlantic coast of the South American country.
