Months after being ravaged by hurricane Ivan, one of the worst to hit the Caribbean in years, tourist accommodations in the Cayman Islands are up and running. Business is booming and many visitors are rebooking to return next year.
The Courtyard Marriot has had all its rooms operational since Christmas and the hotel is close to full with tourists.
Hyatt Regency Hotel General Manager Mark Bastis confirmed that business is going well at the hotels 53 beach suites, which reopened in December.
March is looking at 75 per cent to 80 per cent occupancy. Reports are that guests are not taken aback by the damage, once they see that things are shaping up and the island is coming back to its former glory.
