6,000 cops for vigil Police remain on high alert

Monday, May 9, 2005

In Jamaica, Up to 6,000 police officers were expected to turn up at the Elletson Road sporting ground in Kingston, to mourn their three colleagues who were killed by rampaging gunmen last week. The police federation organized the event and will use it as an opportunity to hammer home its demand for a wage increase.
Bloody attacks between Tuesday night and early Wednesday last week, left three cops and a security guard dead. The Cross Roads, Kingston police station was pock-marked from a brazen assault by gunmen. Two of the gunmen were also killed.
A fourth cop was also shot and injured in the series of apparently coordinated attacks that caused widespread condemnation and calls for strong action by the authorities to deal with crime and terrorism.
A Glock pistol, 105 rounds of ammunition and extra magazines, an M16 assault rifle and 9mm cartridges were some of the loot taken from the scenes by policemen.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields has called on Jamaican Members of Parliament to lead the way in flushing out criminals from their constituencies. According to DCP Shields, their support is critical to fighting crime in Jamaica.
Mr. Shields told a local paper since the murder of three policemen and the security guard he has been contacted by several MPs who have given their commitment to working with the police.
For this year, 8 policemen have been killed in Jamaica compared to 11 for the same period last year.

Education is the key
The crime rate and the way people are killed in Jamaica are ridiculous. Whether gunmen kill police or polices kill innocent youths - a life is a life. If the Jamaican government invests in the school systems and find some way to make school enjoyable and safe the youths will not get red eyes from watching music TV and maybe the violence would minimize itself. If the youths find school enjoyable, they will not have to sit down and think whom else they can gun down to make a dollar. The policemen too need to attain schooling when dealing with the public. A who u tink turn police? The same uneducated youth who figure it is easier to be a legal gunman than to be a wanted gunman. I bet if someone was to do a research most of the victims killed by police or gunman are people who have some form of education. Kill out all the educated people and Jamaica will be a "DAMN DUM" Island waiting to be invaded by an educated country that may enslave Jamaicans. U all tink about dat.
Love, Peace, and Unity.

Police vigil: PJ not in that.
Bob lash fi red Heather Robinson, former PNP MP speech in Sunday Observer n Wignal, tamrra-scott,Claude Robinson, etc..The PNP MPs,some of them mixedup in the violence and some topcops too and in de whol` a de runnin` dem. Mr. Adams is as cold as some of them and is presently on murder -rap> how could these eddiats call for any person, whether soldier, MP, Prime Minister, Governor ,while he before the courts for a terrible crime as he was indicted for. Police plan a vigil that would have embarrassed PNP and then some body, with connections to powers hire some gunmen and pay them well to preserve the PNP position. So instead of police keeping vigil, they had condolence books all over the island. Seem strange to me JLP would do this: PNP full of TRICKERY and too much criminalities.

Crime inna Jamaica!
As close as I see things, Jamaican cops are terrified and totally out of options when it comes down to dealing with the wave of wanton killings on the island!! If dem kill a "wanted man," the group JFJ put dem under such a severe level of scrutiny, it only detracts them from doing dem job!! Dem did have a solution fi the problem. Its name was Renato Adams!!
Reinstate the cure...dammit!!

Jamaica
THIS IS SO RIDICULOUS. Black people on a whole, no matter where you live or where you come from DO NOT know how to behave like human beings. I guess killing each other is the new sport of this generation. And here I am thinking that playing basketball or soccer or getting ahead in our education is what interested these young people, I WAS WRONG.

Why cant you people work together to up lift your community.I just love how you people are teaching our young people to figh war? are you getting them ready for Iraq?well i sure hope not.I would rather see them learning to read and write, and live good. Its very frustrating to see the murder in jamaica

PNP is failure.
The crime situation in Jamaica is very serious. The govt. has loss control. Schoolers attacked school in East Kingston, Children had to sit G-SAT examination under Police guards in East Kingston; School closures because of gang-wars in Arnetts Garden, over 30 odd other Jamaicans have been killed since those policemen were murdered, just some niggas at the middle rung of society, thus it ellicit some condemnations but when poorer people, the vast majority of the victims of heinous crimes, u hardly hear any condemnations; PNP is the politcal party that seemed to be profiting from this crime-spree assisted in the process by demonisers like Mark Wignal, whose only intent is to keep the poor performing government , under whose administration these malicious activites are taking place. Put principles over politics. The rush to judgement of who did what is so unscientific, its smells like stinking PNP politicking.
