Trinidads Works Minister Franklin Khan has resigned from the Patrick Manning Cabinet. He's accused of accepting a bribe for an oil exploration project.
Khan however retains his seat in Parliament and will also remain as Chairman of the People's National Movement.
Prime Minister Patrick Manning, in accepting Khan's resignation, said he is now moving to "reorganise his Government".
Former Attorney General, Kamla Persad-Bissessar a week ago read an undated letter by contractor Dhansook to Prime Minister Patrick Manning, naming Khan and Energy Minister Eric Williams as the recipients of bribes from his company. Khan said he is now intent on working to assure full and complete vindication of these charges as quickly as possible."
