DEA Agent, Gene Hawk, has reported that indictments have been handed down for 16 individuals on charges of shipping cocaine, crack and marijuana, from St Croix to Fairbanks, Alaska. The indictments are a result of a four year investigation, Operation Frostbite", and included nine individuals from St Croix.
The Americans involved are from Tennessee, Alaska and Pennsylvania.
Those indicted are expected to go on trial on July 25. They face a two count indictment, for money laundering and drug-trafficking. The investigation started in Alaska, where it was discovered that drugs were being supplied from St Croix. Monies were then sent back to St Croix, and included a total of 167 wire transfers, with a total sum of $385,000 being traced to individuals involved in the conspiracy.
