One man was reported drowned in flood waters in Seaforth, St Thomas, Jamaica as heavy rains pounded much of the island Tuesday. The Jamaica Defence Force and the fire service carried out at least one rescue mission in Portland. The heavy rains are associated with an area of low pressure to the southeast of Jamaica.
Forty-two year-old Willam Martin, a labourer of Stewartfield in St Thomas, drowned as he attempted to cross a flooded gully in his community.
Tuesday night the National Meteorological Service issued a flash flood watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of all parishes amid forecasts for more wet weather Wednesday.
According to the Met Service, the area of low pressure to the southeast of the island has been generating unstable weather conditions throughout the island.
