Owners of petrol stations in Antigua are grumbling and have refused to support plans by the country's Transport Board to get involved in the "gas selling business." This comes with the reported planned construction of two petrol stations.
A government source told the islands local newspapers, in an effort to restructure and properly regularize transportation in the country, the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (A&BTB) has plans to copy the practice in Barbados as well as Trinidad and Tobago. It will establish a Public Transportation Service in order to correct several deficiencies in the present system.
A member of the A&BTB said there are some plans to do some "streamlining" of the system and the introduction of a public bus service is a possibility.
