Survey soon on school violence

Monday, June 27, 2005

Barbadoss Ministry of Education will soon conduct a survey to find out how widespread violence is in schools. The survey will cover the months of September to December.
Minister of Education Reginald Farley confirmed the survey would also look at the impact of violence.
The Ministry insisted principals report all cases of violence or "unusual activity" to them because in the past, the ministry "would hear things" but when they checked, no reports were filed.
According to Minister Farley there were parents who didnt know what their children
were doing or what they might be exposed to. The schools responsibility was therefore "to galvanise" the support of the society and stamp out the acts.

Surveying for what purpose
Just knowing how many people get murdered or battered everyday in school is not solving anything, Taking action would be a better thing. We already know it's happening. Numbers don't mean a thing
