The Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&P) is headed north with a multi-million-dollar electricity plant at Trents, St Lucy.
Officials confirmed they were purchasing 30 acres of land from owner of Trents Plantation, Victor Johnson, with an option for another 45 acres. Within the next five years the BL&P would install the first two turbines at a cost of more than 120 million dollars.
Chief operating officer of BL&P, Peter Williams, said the St Lucy development was aimed at securing the long-term electricity requirements of the country.
