Haitians refused entry into Dominica

Tuesday, July 19, 2005

Dominican immigration officials refused entry to 27 Haitians saying they intended to use the country as a transshipment point to neighboring islands.
Police spokesman, inspector David Andrew, said the two groups of Haitians, 18 and 9 respectively, arrived at the Melville Hall Airport in the north east of the island without documents to support their travel to Guadeloupe and St Thomas.
Andrew said the two groups came on chartered flights from the Dominican Republic, which shares an island with Haiti.
Dominica's attorney general Ian Douglas said efforts were being stepped up to curb the transshipment of Haitians and Dominican Republic nationals from the island following complaints from French, Dutch and US authorities.

Serves them right
As one caribbean, we should leave as one and lend a helping hand to sister countries where necessary. But the way the haitians do it, oh no. i see their entry into my country as an invasion, and if we are not careful as dominicans, we are going to be outnumbered by these foreigners on our own soil. there are parts of the island where all u see are haitians and spanish ppl, taking bread from the mouths of locals, and this is not fair. all shall eat, that's true. but dominica belongs to dominicans. the only direct blow we will feel from imposing the visa restrictions on these immigrants is a drop in business, especially for folks on th north of the island. however, we have to safeguard what is ours, so i believe it serves them right.

One Question!
I would just like to ask one simple question: Why can't we just live together as One Caribbean People?
We were Bonded by the same chain and beaten by the same whip;still we fight against each other. If We cannot do it ourselves no one will. That i know for sure.
Don't expect it to get any better

Slavery/Documents
This story has no right and no wrong we all are people of this great Caribbean and traveling where we want in it should not be so much of problem.
to imagine we all came here some 400+ years ago packed on boats to be sold on any Caribbean island where a white man was willing to buy us and use us which ever way he pleased. we got our freedom but it was on documents which we signed with out being able to READ and WRITE with an X we placed our names and got introduced to another form of slavery in the mordern word called DOCUMENTS.pretending to be left in our own hands theses documents have been turned in to LAWS which we use againts our own brothers who in turn want to seek a better life. for look how far we have come in a world where a piece of document is the deciding factor to a better life who gives these documents? well well well did u think the WHITE MAN ever gave US the power to do so.
