More than a dozen Jamaicans were taken into custody after police raided several premises believed to be involved in the illegal petroleum trade.
An Operation Kingfish-led team went to premises in Greenwich Town and along Lyndhurst Crescent in the Kingston 5 area, where the arrests were made.
More than one hundred and fifty 45-gallon drums loaded with the various types of petroleum products were seized.
Sergeant Steve Brown, information officer for Operation Kingfish said the police picked up intelligence that proceeds from the illegal petroleum trade are being used to purchase illegal guns and ammunition. It's againt this background that cops intend to destroy the trade.
According to Sgt Brown, the police picked up about 15 persons who were subsequently questioned in connection with the illegal petroleum trade operation in sections of the Corporate Area.

I think it's time that the system to free Jah Cure. The man did his time already and they should free him asap. He makes positive music and his music is creating waves here in Miami Florida and I just feel so proud to be a Jamaican when I hear his music and see the reaction from other people. He is one of our prised possession here in Miami. I think the system is just trying to hold him down. His time is almost up anyway and I am positive that he will get a warm welcome from Jamaican all over the world, especially here in Miami. I think the system need to clean up all the politics in Jamaica instead of trying to hold down good people. The governments in Jamaica need to look inside themselves and clean up their acts. FREE JAH CURE.
