At the official start of the 2005 Carnival Season in Antigua, officials were pleading with residents to do their best to ensure a violence-free Carnival Season.
Carnival Minister, John Maginley, along with the festival's Co-coordinator Vaughn Walter, urged everyone to be responsible in their behavior during the festive season.
Despite a call for a safe carnival last year, festivities came to a premature end as one death and other forms of violence forced authorities to shut down Lastlap.
The theme for this year's 10-day summer festival is Keeping the Wadadli Spirit Alive, Antigua Carnival 2005.
