Amnesty International has released a report on Haiti which claims the United Nations mission has made little progress towards protecting human rights, the year it has been in the country.
The report also accused the US-backed interim government and the UN peacekeeping force of showing leniency toward former soldiers and other rebels who toppled President Jean-Bertrand Aristide last year.
The interim, Gerard Latotue government is further accused of failing to prevent or to investigate such serious human rights violations.
In its report, Amnesty claimed that arbitrary detentions, the deliberate killings of civilians and police abuse are common. The report contains a list of examples of what are called extra-judicial killings, carried out by the Haitian national police.
Because they don't care?
Don't you know that the leaders in this world today don't give a damm about the poor. It's all economics and political to them. The reason they do whatever they want is becasue we allow it. People we need to take a stand now before it's too late

Is the US helping or Hurting Haiti?
I understand that but at the same time Haiti needs a person who will speak for all Haitians.
The current leader does not have the support of the population. Part of the problem is that people see this leader as a puppet of the United States. No Country wants to be seen as some ones pet.
The Bush administration perpetuated a ban on direct aid, and froze $500 million of much-needed international foreign aid for Haiti.
There is hope for Haiti but you all need a leader who speaks for all!

Only GOD can save Haiti
It seems that not even the UN can help Haiti. Why is it so hard for Haiti to stand on it's own feet. As the first country in this part of the world to gain independence they should have been way ahead of everybody else. It's seems as if the UN is on the verge of giving up also. What's next for Haiti? Only GOD KNOWS!
