Barbadians are all geared up for the annual Cropover Festival with the action starting at the Pic O De Crop, that's where the 2005 Calypso Monarch is chosen.
After a weekend of fetes and events, more than 10,000 masqueraders were expected to take to the street for the vibrant Grand Ka-doo-ment parade early this week.
This year is expected to be one of the biggest ever and Carnival officials were anticipating a huge influx of visitors especially from the Caribbean.
Although Trinidadian tourists are flocking to Crop Over, some of that country's top bands like Machel Montano and Xtatik and Atlantik won't be in Barbados because theyre all in Toronto which clashes with the Bajan festivities.
This year, calypsonians in Barbados produced over 500 songs, a far cry from last year, when many artistes boycotted the Festival as a protest against what they felt was government inaction on piracy.
