The party of ousted Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide has been barred from registering a jailed Catholic priest as its presidential candidate. Electroal authorities said Priest Gerard Jean-Juste has to register his candidcy in person.
But Jean-Juste was arrested two months ago on suspicion of involvement in the murder of journalist Jacques Roche. He denies the accusations.
The Lavalas Family party said it would challenge the ban in court and warned it could boycott the November poll.
The party's participation is seen as key because of its widespread support. Mr Aristide - who is in exile since being ousted in 2004 - still has many supporters, particularly in the poorer areas of the capital, Port-au-Prince.
Hundreds of his supporters tried to march to the electoral council last Tuesday, to back Mr Jean-Juste's candidacy. they were however stopped by UN peacekeepers and Haitian police.
God Ain't Sleeping!
He's just around the corner. How can Politics help solve a country's problems, when the polititions are the ones helping breed the corruptions?
Somebody please Explain to me! I really wanna know.maybe i'll have a different view!

Globalization
it does't matter if they put him in power, if you treaten there intrest they get you out, just like saddam he was help put in power to stop Iran and even given weppons, and when he decided to stop protecting there intrest which was the oil he is a terroist.you are under the illusion that puppet government will help the poor, look at Iraq, suadi arabia, pakistan, afganistan, sudan etc. some have dictaters working with the US like Pakistan.Haiti problem is the paying back of reperations to france and the world bank thats why haiti is so poor if that does not get resolve the US. will just expliot the poor like jamaica paying back .60 on every dollor.

puppet government or not
Whether or not the U.S. wants to set up a puppet government in Haiti is not important. What is important is that the suffering people of Haiti must have a government, puppet or not, that is going to help them out of their hell. Only God knows who is truly capable of leading the country into a better future so none of our opinions really matter. Instead of choosing sides we should be hoping and praying and loving our Haitian brothers as we love ourselves. And for all of those who don't agree with the US removal of Aristide should know that it was the U.S. who returned him to power back in 94' with 20,000 troops behind him after he was kicked out the country by an anti-American, Haitian army. With that said, if you don't like that he was ousted then you can't agree with what the U.S. did for him in 94'.
God Bless

Aristide
There is a lot of things that was going on with Aristide's government that isn't getting any press. Aristide was and still is a murderer. He ordered a hit on my brother in February of 2003, right before he was sent into exile. Aristide likes to complain about how poor Haiti is, but fact is that he was the biggest drug lord in Haiti. He took all of the millions he made and put them in off shore accounts. Not one penny of any of that money went to helping HIS people in Haiti. They should have shot him dead.
