The Antigua-based LIAT airline, which for years has been trying to merge with Trinidad-based BWIA Airways, will have to continue its wait.
Trinidad & Tobagos Prime Minister Patrick Manning, in his budget presentation has put aside 250 million U. dollars for the restructuring of the cash-strapped national carrier. But he said it does not include a merger with LIAT.
Junior Finance Minister Conrad Enill said the merger is off the table at this point because of the cost to do it
In its new dispensation, BWIA will become a totally new airline, under the chairmanship of businessman Arthur Lok Jack.
