Caribbean health officials have been discussing plans in the event of a bird flu outbreak in the region.
The meeting which saw representation from 21 Caribbean nations, was led by the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (Carec).
Director of CAREC, Dr James Hopedales, said though there was no need to panic, the situation must be monitored carefully.
Issues like the need for adequate lab testing facilities, vaccines and for health workers to be on guard for patients with pneumonia-like symptoms were discussed.
