A Texas billionaire is going to invest 28 million U.S dollars in Caribbean cricket.
Allen Standford unveiled his plans for the regional tournament beginning in 2006. The game will follow the 20/20 format where each team bats for 20 overs. This format is believed to provide more excitement for spectators.
The Tournament will feature 17 nations from Guyana to Bermuda with a winning prize of one million U.S dollars. 2nd prize is half a million.
The Man of the match in the final will get 100,000 dollars and those in the semi finals $25,000 each. This comes at a time when West Indies cricket is at a low with a still unresolved pay dispute between the WICB and the players Union WIPA. The Windies reserve team represented the region in Sri Lanka .
