Trinidad's politics, Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday has refused to step down despite his party's election of a new political leader.
Winston Dookeran was elected as the United National Congress, the UNC's new political leader, but Panday has taken over the position of party chairman.
Panday who enjoys more support among the party executive, said he intends to discipline the party and has shown no indication he will hand over the reins of power to the new UNC leader.
Party Executive member Austin "Jack" Warner wants an investigation into the recent executive election where a Dookeran supporter who was first elected vice president lost 100 votes in a recount, while his opponent, a Panday supporter, gained 166 votes.
Dookeran says he will not give up, though he appears to be party leader in name only.
