Cayman visas target Jamaicans

Monday, October 17, 2005

The Cayman Island has imposed visa restrictions on Jamaicans because of a growing crime problem.
The visas requirement starts right about now, mid-October, and was lobbied for by the island's Chamber of Commerce.
However the move is being criticised as coming at a time when Caricom is stressing the need for hassle-free travel in the region.
President-elect of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce, Morgan Da Costa, explained though, there were genuine concerns about the increased rate of crime.
Although the prison figures show there are only 31 Jamaicans in the prison population of 178, Mr Da Costa said many of those who commit the crimes leave the island without being caught.

Police shooting of black in America
Why don't the police use a bullet proof response vehicle to do a rapid response to people with a gun ect. Maybe with more training they might not be likely to shoot so quickly

James
Hi. James,

Maybe we should start write on line on a regular basis and give these youg people some history about where Jamaica and Cayman is coming from. We are comimg from a distant, I remember in the 80's whem Jamaica was having bad economic times, we came Cayman to work and the Caymanians was very receptive, they open their doors and assist. I would like this kind of relationship to continue, lets mend the broken fences and move on. I am not going to use any ugly words to discribe anyone, yhat wont put us anywhere and young people should listen to us and learn because the only way to know where you are going is to know where you are coming from, there is no otherway. If Jamaican are infact comiting crime, I dont agree with that, I say if because I dont know. To the Caymanians keep up that warm attitude, dont ever loose that. You are beautiful people.

James Cayman Islands
Hi James,

I got your note, it could be him; he should be in his late 30's now. He is black in complexion and he is from Jamaican and Caymanian parents. The profile sounds like something that he would possible do, however he is a good guy.

Jamaicans Needs Visa
Dear Paul,

I saw the news that Cayman Islands will be requiring Jamaicans to have a Visa to enter "The Cayman Islands", because of the crime situation on your Islands. I do not know what the situation is like there now, I left there many years ago. What I do know however, is that's not a smart political move; because Jamaica is the most developed Island in the Caribbean, on the other hand , the world's weather is changing causing a lots of Hurricane to form in the region, you might need to evacuate your people and Jamaica is the nearest country to your Island. What about the Medical aspect? Jamaica's medical system is good; you might need their help in that area, medical care is very expensive in Canada and the US. I think your decision will fail, please re-visit and reverse your decision.

Jamaica+Cayman as 1
I really think the ppl of Cayman needs to realize that Jamaica and Jamacians helped build that Island and have all right to be on that Island as the ppl that were born their, if you check out Caymans history Jamaica has been a big part of it in every way and to shut out a group of ppl that has been their since the begining of time is outragous, if that be the case then stop the Hondurians and Nicarguians from coming their they cause as much problems. I can see you being concered and wanting to do something about crime on your Island but you have other ways of going about it, like making it harder for them to get visas make it only ppl with family members or for job purposes and make sure you keep tabs on how much ppl enter the Island it's a small Island I dont see how hard could it be heck I could do that

To Paul
First of all, you seem to be a very ignorant person. you should realize that not all Jamaicans are cruel and evil as you make them out to be. Yes, there is crime being committed in Jamaica as we speak, but hey, doesn't that happen everywhere in the world. Nowhere is a safe haven. You're not even safe in your own home. The reason why there is crime because people lack support systems and/or services primarily because of the higher authorities who are in control. Being that they are sufferers, they're going to try to Survive in any means whether its by stealing, murdering, or whatever the case may be to obtain the neccessities of life that is not granted to them.

You jamaicans have no soul. Your heartless and cruel! The bombings in london were done by jamaicans. And for your information, i'm not gay. I have a wife and 4 kids. You wouldn't want some1 kill you if you were gay, or kill your family. Jamaicans need to stay in jamaica and stop spreading their culture of hatred an violnece to other countries!

Who cares
My name is james and i am from grand cayman. yea they want to do this and that to jamaicans because of crime, think about it. What would you do if a whole load of caymanians was in prison up there and commitin crimes? someone would start sayin we need to do something about these caymanians here and we would have visa problems too. But see no one is perfect. People like me is forgiving. If a man comes and robs me i will feel bad yes but i cannot blame him. because like i sed no one is perfect. So if i have no job or no source of income and my child doesnt have any food in their mouth, i will rob someone myself whether in grand cayman or in jamaica. this is a fucked up world we are living in. Most of the rich does not help the poor. so we have to resort to crime to survive. so i really dont give a shit about who is in prison or who is doing what. from america to asia nobody better dont fuck with me, and expect the unexpected.

Dont blame Jamaicans..
Your gay. Thats disgusting...but you cant say stuff like that. Bombing the whole country cause they don't beleive in gay people and gay relationships. If some or most of them think gays should die. It doesn't mean u have the right to say ALL of them should be bombed up. Your gay... you made the choice to be gay. So you have to deal with all the hate and predjudice that comes with it. SUCK IT UP AND EAL WITH IT. it comes with the package.

There is crime everywhere. You cant say that because theres more crime here... that everyone there is a criminal. your stupid and your batti man beliefs arent welcome in jamaica. Get over it.

To Paul from Michigan
Leave Jamaica and Jamaican people alone. You behave as if we are the only people in the world that commit crime. Every where you have crime and violence just like where you come from, look how many people get killed each day for drugs and so one in the world and a Jamaica name you a call. I advice you that if you dont have anything positive to say about Jamaicans....SHUT UP cause we dont wanna hear from batty bwoy like you.

Poor Jamaica....
bwoy mi ah tell you, we get blame for everything under the sun. if the sun is too hot it's Jamaica's fault, if it snows it's Jamaica's fault... everyone takes their problem out on us, why, why, why. I know we are unique but damn man... shit, we are not the only important people in this world.
