Haitian government sues Aristide, alleging embezzlement and drug trafficking
Monday, November 7, 2005
The Haitian interim government has accused former president Jean Bertrand Aristide of embezzling "millions of dollars" from public coffers and, drug trafficking. the Government filed a lawsuit in a US federal court in Miami, Florida.
The lawsuit, filed last week said the exiled president looted the public treasury, laundered the illicit proceeds, diverted and stole revenues rightfully belonging to the Haitian national telephone company.
It also accused him of encouraging, protecting, participating and profiting from illegal drug trafficking in and through Haiti.
The lawsuit also alleges that part of the money had been transferred to banks and businesses in the United States, particularly in Florida.

What's the solution?
Being Haitian, its our duty to learn about language, history, and culture. With that being said its no suprise why Haiti is in the state that it is in. Putting forward blessings in fine, but what are some real solutions. We come here( U.S.) and live off the fat of the land and make Haiti a distant memory. For all First and second generation Haitians, its up to us to do something. We have the tools, talent, and education to reform these practices and influence an agenda that could benefit most of Haiti. Its time the tables turn and that the first be last and that last be first. Ou tande'm!! Ayisien Kanmpe!!

Lies
Being haitian myself and following this whole saga all i have to say is dont believe the hype. Aristide, a catholic priest, has always been a righteous man. During his presidency he was denied 500 million in approved loans by the international powers that be. he was a thorn in their side and they illegally put him in exile. he demanded france pay us back the billions they extorted from us. and for that they took him out of power and want to shit on his name. just like they did and continue to do the Malcolm X. the media tries to control the public opinion so lets not buy into their "tabloids" that they try to pass off as news.

Its a soo much stuff
Being haitian i always wondered why haiti so poor. I looked into it and it has been so much stuff. After independence...no one wanted to trade with haiti back in the day because they were a slave nation. No trade no money. And Haiti had to pay France for damages after the war for independance. They didnt stop paying that debt til like the early 1900. And its only after that haiti finally got a chance ot try and boost its economy...but by that time....too late. With all that followed by corrupt politicians...how can a country go anywhere.
