The Parliament of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is now dissolved to pave the way for general elections on December 7.
Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves announced the voting date at a public meeting of his Unity Labour Party.
Dr Gonsalves praised his government for what he termed an outstanding job in turning the country around from he felt was a terrible mess to what he said was real and visible progress on all fronts.
He is hoping for a second straight term for the ULP. The party won twelve seats to the three of the New Democratic Party at the elections in 2001.
Opposition leader Arnhim Eustace, who led St. Vincent from 2000-2001, said he wasn't surprised by the election date.
