Trinidads Prime Minister Patrick Manning, who suffers from an irregular heartbeat, will have a pacemaker inserted, to ensure his heart is not damaged. Manning's local cardiologist Dr. Rasheed Rahaman said the Prime Minister is currently under medication to prevent his heart from racing. Rahaman told reporters the insertion of a pacemaker would prevent possible damage to the heart from side effects of the medication. Manning will return to Cuba for the operation, ten days after he visited the Caribbean island for what was then described as a routine check-up. |
