Cocaine in timber-Six Guyanese remanded in Barbados
Tuesday, December 6, 2005
Six Guyanese were held in a plot to smuggle cocaine worth over 3 million U.S dollars into Barbados in a shipment of lumber. Barbados police discovered more than 109 packages of cocaine and 78 packages of marijuana in a shipment of lumber, which arrived from Guyana. The four men and two women were remanded to prison until December 15, when they will appear in court again. The six were arraigned on multiple charges, including possession of drugs with intent to supply and drug trafficking.
This is being referred to as the island's largest drug bust.
Those held are Christopher Bacchus, and his wife Diane, Lemme Campbell, and his wife, Somwattie Persaud, and Gavin Wayne Greene. An alleged accomplice, businessman Rohan Rambarran, was charged with importing the cocaine and marijuana some time between November 23rd and 30th.

that's a great hold up however i hope that the police force does not benefit in any way from this issue in relations to the drugs bvecuse it is known that many times the same drugs is being sold by the police after it is confiscated.
