The island of Barbados is making history, becoming the first English-speaking Caribbean country selected to host the prestigious golf world cup.
Officials at the International Federation of Tour announced the 2006 World Cup will be played next December at the Sandy Lane Resort in St. James, Barbados. Its best known as the site of legendary Golf champion Tiger Woods' wedding in October of 2004.
A total of 24 nations, including host Barbados, will participate in the cup from Dec. 7-10, which officials said would offer a minimum purse of 4 million dollars.
