Mahaicony families moving to shelters

Monday, January 23, 2006

In Guyana, families in the hard-hit Mahaicony area have begun moving into flood relief shelters in villages nearby according to reports from the countrys Civil Defense Commission.
Parts of Mahaicony have been under water since mid-December last year and the situation worsened over the past week after there was a forced emergency discharge from the East Demerara Water Conservancy a reservoir for Guyanas coast.
The Head of the Civil Defense Commission indicated that about one dozen families have been relocated to the two shelters.
Six more families were expected to move into one of the shelters this week while another12 families had indicated a need for shelter.
A medical team visited several communities in the flood affected areas.
The Government Information Agency circulated a warning that motorists traveling along the coast in the flood affected areas to take precautions against animals roaming the roadway as a result of flooding in those areas. Many farmers said their cattle had no high ground left so the public road, which in most areas is high and generally dry, is the last resort.
Rains that are not letting up continue to cause more flood woes for residents and regional administrations across Guyanas coast belt where the bulk of the countrys population is located.

HELP FOR GUYANA
I personally think that the USA should help Guyana in this time of turmoil that the country is facing. If no one decide to lend a helping hand then who knows where Guyana might end up.

BLOCK THEM

I think Muzik Media should block all the junk comments some of you are making. When I say "Junk", I mean the Lincoln that is pirating someone else's name, and you Ano. Ya going way over board. When you type Muzik Media.com it should reads "REJECTED". You think it's a joke; but it's a real "TURN OFF". I don't know your cultural background; but it's clear you have no interest in what is going on in the The Caribbean. Why don't you log on to the sites that exhibits the crisis in your country and leave Muzik Media site alone. You don't have the slightest idea on the purpose of this website.

Guyana needs Help.
Guyana needs alot of help but i also think its the people that`s making it what it is right now. If everyone would work together alot of goals would be accomplished, everyone in Guyana is basically for themselves. Guyanese people can ya`ll work together to make Guyana a better place. I hope ya`ll take my opinion into consideration.

You know it's not me
Look at the language and grammar, I would not say big up Kingston ,Jamaica; that's street talk. I am not even from Kingston. Nice try. Guyanese know that I would not make negative comments like that about a people in distress!
