St Vincent & the Grenadines willing to recognise new government in Haiti

Monday, February 13, 2006

St Vincent and the Grenadines said it would once again recognise a government in Haiti if it is satisfied the elections were free and fair, and there is ongoing respect for human rights. Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said he could not wait to see the back of the United States-supported, interim Haitian Prime Minister Gerard Latortue. He described Mr Latortue as a very ineffectual, arrogant and pompous person. St. Vincent and the Grenadines severed relations with Haiti after the controversial removal from office of president Jean Bertrand Aristide in 2004. Gonsalves Unity Labour Party was elected for a second term last December in elections hailed as free and fair by regional and local observers. the St Vincent leader said he would recognise a Haitian government based upon similar pronouncements from credible observers of the election in Haiti.

hi
now in st vincent,my country where u are born determines what type of person society describes u for instance if u are from bottom town, paul's avenue or calliaqua they called u a gangster and it's not nice when your society is so backward, people everyday are force and pushed to be criminals because if some one hurts u then the police is on their side then what can u do,i know of a man in pauls avenue who pays police for information and also to cover his dirty work u will make a thousand report about someone tryin to take your life and the respond is i will talk to that person for u,we cannot make any arrest until a crime is commited meaning until u are dead.i will continue to speak the truth and if u dont know what i am talking about u will

It's Not Safe To Be A Talk Show Host In The Caribbean
I am a trained broadcaster.I went to a very good broadcasting school in Canada.

However, there is no way in hell,I will take a job as talk show host in St.Vincent or in any other Caribbean island.I will read the news, sports, play music and work as a voice over ariste but not as a talk show host,am crazy? There seem to be no objectivity in broadcating in the Caribbean

Aside from Glen Jackson's murder in St.Vincent in Guyana another talk show host was killed recently. There are alot of radio stations springing up all over the Caribbean but they haven't learned how to give both sides of a story.I am talking about been fair.

I think Opposition Forces In St.Vincent Killed Glen
Lincoln I won't blame the goverment for Glen Jackson's murder,he did work for them .He was the prime minister's press secretary. However,he kept his talk show hosting job called(Shake Up) at a local radio station WEEFM.I think he made a big mistake, when he kept doing that job.I said before everything has been politicized in St.Vincent. Nobody seemed to have any objectivity. If anyone is to be blamed for Glen's murder I would point fingers at the opposition. This other Vincy guy who called himself O is right when he said the police in are ill trained

I have red your article and I also noticed your Journalistic skills, very good! I hope you will be ok Man because of the fact that it seems as if your government is not protecting "freedom of speech". We "Bloggers" will be there for you if anything happens to you.

To Stvincent????
This is unbelievable, don't get me wrong. How could something like that happen and the Police don't do anything about it. Murder is Murder and human lives cannot be taken for granted. They should lock up the killers, who will be next? are you saying that this person was shot infront of hundreds of people on a Ship and no witness came forward. He just vanished into thin air? This beats me.

hi
first of all i would like to say that anyone can kill in stvincent and get away with it,the police force needsmore training, and to be alot smarter when investigating crimes, crimes are beincommited in public places, on a boat a man was shot and killed in front of a couple hundred people and up to know no one was locked up stvincent needs alot of help before helping others

I dont know much about your countrie's politics, but I agree with you; no one should be killed because of their views. Freedom of speech is the foundation of "Democracy",if we start to loose the freedom of speaking out, there is no point in having a government, that kind of behaviour can tear down the very "Fabric" that a society needs to survive. Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!

Making It Known About Happenings In St.Vincent
Now you have situation developing in St.Vincent where a person can get killed for his political views. I'm talking about the killing of Glenn Jackson, the prime minister of St. Vincents press secretary. It's appalling!! I think he made a mistake by not resigning from his job at the local radio stationWEEFM.However,he should'nt have been killed for his political views. Some ignorant people in St.Vincent think he should have been killed a long time ago. They said one down two more to go, that's ridiculous. There were three guys who worked for the local radio station NBC supported Dr Ralph Gonsalves government. Glenn Jackson, who was killed. Bernard John who is the St. Vincent consalate to Canada and Public prosecutor Colin Williams. Are they going to kill them too?
In St. Vincent, they have no objectivity, everything is politicized. Even sports!

To The Vincy In Toronto Stop spreading Lies
I think it's a very unfortunate comment you made about Vincy prime minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves. When Dr Gonslves was a lecturer at UWI they called him communist. He is not a communist,so if a person wants social justice for all people does make you a communist?.You said the elections were rigged that's a lie there were observers from the UN and the OAS and they declared the elections free and fair. Moreover, what I find ludicrous is that you compared St.Vincent to Haiti, are you crazy?St.Vincent has one of the best economies in the Eastern Caribbean.I want you to stop spread rumours about St.Vincent.
