Grenada's Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell denied the island intends to give up the Green Package of 2007 World Cup matches to Trinidad and Tobago. Prime Minister Mitchell heads the CARICOM Prime Ministers Sub-Committee for Cricket. He refuted a story published which claims Grenada has abandoned its decision to host World Cup cricket matches, as the country struggles to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Ivan. The report stated Trinidad and Tobago in a twist of fate may be handed the Green Package, that's a group of Super Eight matches in the Cricket World Cup. It is understood authorities in Grenada have been making discreet inquiries whether Trinidad and Tobago can pick up the slack and stage the Green Package of matches. Trinidad and Tobago were allocated the Brown Package involving matches in a group comprising India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bermuda. Grenada was expecting to build over their stadium at Queens Park to hold 17,000 seats, to host six Super Eight Matches. But the Prime Minister indicated that he believes that this is an opportune time for the country to showcase its reconstruction process and to show that it is back in business. He also indicated Grenada cannot make such a decision to hand over its games to Trinidad and Tobago.
