Donors and countries contributing troops to the United Nations mission in Haiti met in Brasilia to marshal funds to assist Haitian President Rene Preval.
The outgoing chief, Juan Valdes of Chile, said the Brasilia meeting was absolutely urgent.
The meeting brought together donors, troop-contributing countries as well as the so-called Friends of Haiti. Those are the European Union, Canada, the United States and Latin American countries.
Participants were to follow and accelerate contributions promised in 2004, Valdes said.
One point $2B. had been pledged to Haiti two years ago. Only $800m. was disbursed.
