Nevisians will go to the polls on July 10, this year. The date was announced by Premier Vance Amory as he addressed hundreds of his Concerned Citizens Party supporters at a rally.
According to Amory, he advised the Governor General, Sir Cuthbert Sebastien, to dissolve the Nevis Island Assembly on June 22, 2006. He had also consulted with St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Denzil Douglas.
Amory said elections were always somewhat disruptive of social and economic activity. He said for this reason, the process should be short and as incident free as possible.
