At least 16 people were killed and three injured in a night of fighting between armed groups in the south of Haiti's capital, Port en prince.
According to Officials from the United Nations, The UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) deployed a battalion to the Martissant district in Southern Port en Prince to help calm the situation, the troupes were aided by teams from the National Police Force. The Haitian Police reported in an official statement that they found the bodies of 16 victims, and three people wounded, on the spot.
It was not immediately clear whether the casualties included civilians or members of the rival gangs.
