Guyana has captured the Stanford 20/20 cricket tournament and has walked away with GUY$244 million dollars. Played out before a capacity crowd of almost 7 000, the victory came off the penultimate ball in a tension charged final against Trinidad and Tobago. Guyanas Narsingh Deonarine hit a six from the fifth ball of the final over in which the Guyanese required 14 runs. Guyana's substantial purse was further enhanced by an additional US$100 000 for the Man-of-the-Match award snagged by Travis Dowlin, another US$25 000 collected by Narsingh Deonarine for the match-winning six that earned him the Play-Of-The-Match award, and a further US$95 000 that came from three Man-Of-The-Match prizes and a further $ 20,000 for two Play-Of-The-Match efforts in earlier matches. This made up the grand prize money of US$1.22 million. The Stanford 20 / 20 was the first tournament of its kind to offer such a lucrative prize package in world cricket
