Individuals from Trinidads business sector have rejected recommendations by former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday to form a bounty hunter fund to hunt down criminals. Panday made the comments at a recent political where he urged business people to pool resources and set up a $20 million dollar Self Protection Fund. Business people in Trinidad have staunchly rejected the suggestions. President of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association Paul Quesnel discouraged the development of illegal vigilante groups and urged businessmen not to indulge in such practices. The business community is not in the business of promoting illegal activitiesGovernment has to deal with the crime problem within their resources" he said. Other members of the sector said they were not prepared to give any more money to a government to whom they had already donated surveillance equipment and other crime fighting resources
