The National Insurance Board of Barbados has officially launched its Social Security Internet Service, a facility which allows Barbadians online access to their NIS records. Speaking at the launch of the service, Director of the National Insurance Board, Ian Carrington said the initiative was an example of the major transformations in his department to improve the quality of technological services offers to its clients. Carrington cited the recent upgrading of the departments Information Technology Systems, and the establishment of a contact centre for upgrading pension cheques as two innovations put in place by his department. With this password based social security system, persons are able to check their earnings, review the status of their various claims and access the details of their benefit payments without any strain or hassle.
