As part of this years National Heroes day Celebrations in Jamaica, The Institute of Jamaica has officially opened a state of the art interactive multimedia museum replete with 8 touch screens baring the life, works and history of Pan African icon, and Jamaicas first national hero, Marcus Mosiah Garvey. To mark the momentous occasion, Dr. Waibinte Wariboko of the University of the West Indies performed libation in memory of the ancestors and invited Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller to cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of the multimedia facility. Among those present was Dr. Julius Garvey, son of the late National Hero. He described the multimedia museum as "a magnificent tribute to the memory of Marcus Mosiah Garvey." Dr. Garvey also expressed his pleasure at the Prime Minister's earlier announcement to work without rest for the exoneration of Marcus Garvey's name and overturn a 1923 conviction for mail fraud in the US.
