Guyanas Labour Minister sees role for deportees in job market

Monday, October 23, 2006

Guyanas Minister of Labour, Manzoor Nadir has urged the member states of Caricom to start looking into ways of reintegrating deportees into society. Speaking at the fifteenth meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development, Minister Nadir said that many deportees are returned to the Caribbean with skills and knowledge that could benefit the region. The Minister pointed out that 40% of the regions youth were unskilled citizens and therefore Caricom states should look for other forms of employment. He urged Caricom leaders to set up the conditions which would allow deportees to contribute to the social and economic development of their countries when they are returned.

deportees
it is an good idea for government to provide work for these deportes, but what happen to the individuals who have finish school, colleges and university who cannot find work. are these deportees bring back with their style of living, and why in the first place were they deported, have they change have they learnt we'll never know unless we give them chances. i believe the rampant crime rates has effects to do with the deportees are these deportees helping our country, i dont think so they have bring their lifestyles from america to these small countries

Good concept and idea
So far it sounds good and it wil benefit the region and prevent these men from falling back into crime. I believe everyone needs a second chance and opportunities like these give them a chnace to fell that way again. CAPRICOM keep up the good work, thoughtful idea and concept.
