A swanky looking tennis racket is the new weapon of choice for Jamaicans, against the malaria causing Anopheles mosquito. The device called the Electronic Mosquito Trap is designed to annihilate mosquitoes and bugs with just one swat, trapping and zapping the ill-fated insects in its net. Despite the apparent popularity of the battery operated device amongst some Jamaicans the Bureau of Standards in that country says that it has not approved use of the Mosquito Trap, whilst the Consumer Affairs Commission claims it has never even heard of the mosquito killer. The agencies insist that the product, made in China must be tested before it receives a seal of approval from either department. Meanwhile, reported cases of malaria in Jamaica have reached a staggering 140. There is no known cure for the disease.
