After a three year break in negotiations, authorities In Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados have resumed dialogue for the establishment for a bilateral fishing agreement between the two countries. The Bajan contingent headed by Deputy Prime Minister Mia Mottley, also included Minister of State in the Foreign Ministry, Kerrie Symmonds; Chief negotiator for fisheries, Sir Henry Forde; President of the Barbados National Union of Fisherfolk Organisations, Oliver Grant and officials of the Fisheries Division and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Bajans met in Port Of Spain this week with a delegation led by Trinidads Attorney General; John Jeremy and its Foreign Affairs Minister, Arnold Piggott. Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago had agreed to the discussions following the decision of the international arbitral tribunal in The Hague in April 2006, urging the two countries to negotiate an agreement that would allow Barbados fisherfolk access to fisheries within the exclusive economic zone of Trinidad and Tobago. The results of the discussions have not yet been released
