In other news from St Vincent, a 27-year-old Constable of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has been charged with double murder. Accused is Police Constable Erikson Harris, for the killing of Jeannie Gill and Vonley Llewellyn, whose burnt bodies were discovered in the home of Gill in December 2005. According to Acting Commissioner of Police, Bertram Pompey, Harris had earlier provided an alibi for his whereabouts on the night in question. Further investigations revealed however that the police constable was involved in the incident, and is believed to have been romantically involved with the female victim. The Acting Commissioner expressed his regrets that such a crime was committed by a member of the force and urged the public not to view the incident as representative of the entire body. Harris is the first Police Officer to be tried for murder in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
