Trinidad and Tobago is likely to see another delay in their local election. Local elections which were due last year were postponed for one year which will end in July. Prime Minister Patrick Manning hinted at a further postponement of local government elections in his address to constituents of Taba-quite. He said government had decided on power sharing in the new changes which will give local government bodies wider powers. The new arrangements for local government included new boundaries, an administrative structure and executive councils at local government level for the execution of government's policy. This reform of the local government is expected to be cited as one of the reasons for the delay in elections.
