Cuba's Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque has said that Fidel Castro has gained some weight and is exercising daily. The Foreign Minister made this report during a visit to his Portuguese counterpart Luis Amado, in Portugals capital city, Lisbon. This report from the Foreign Minister Roque follows an earlier statement by the leader of the Cuban national assembly Ricardo Alarcon, who suggested that Castro would soon be fit enough to resume his duties as President of Cuba. Castro had temporarily handed over power to his brother Raul, 75, on July 31 after undergoing intestinal surgery. Observers continue to speculate however whether Castro will seek re-election as President in 2008, pending a full recovery.
