Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves left his homeland this week, on jet bound for Cuba. The Prime Minister was recently involved in a car accident in which he sustained cuts on his upper and lower lips, displaced two of his front teeth and suffered a leg injury which has left him with a slight limp. Gonsalves' driver, Sergeant Zaccheus Parris, was knocked unconscious when the accident occurred and suffered a fracture in the neck and shoulder. The accident occurred when a truck smashed into the Toyota jeep driven by Parris as they made their way from North Windward to the islands capital Kingstown. While in Cuba, Gonsalves may undergo surgery to his mouth and right leg. Deputy Prime Minister Sir Louis Straker, will act as Prime Minister until Gonsalves returns.
