The Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR), has urged the government of Guyana to get the Ministry of Health to investigate a rise in the incidents of possible dengue fever cases in Guyana. Officials from the Opposition Party say they have received numerous complaints from constituents of an illness including flu like symptoms, high fever and other ailments associated with Dengue Fever. According to the PNCR, dengue fever is now reaching the peak of a five-year cycle and media reports have confirmed an outbreak in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Ministry has so far responded by deploying health teams from the Vector Control Department to verify these reports of suspected increases in the Amerindian communities in Guyana.
