Jamaicas Opposition leader and leader of the Jamaica Labour Party Bruce Golding has dared the Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller to call an election. Golding issued the challenge after a local poll showed the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) trailing the People Nationals Party (PNP) by seven percentage points. "If the Government believes that it is seven points ahead then that puts it in a position where it can now go to the people," Mr. Golding said it is time for the people to decide. A team of researchers surveyed 1,008 Jamaicans between May 5 and 6, and found that if an election for Parliament had been held earlier this month, 34 per cent of the persons would have voted for the PNP, while 27 per cent would have vote for the JLP. The margin of error for the sample is plus or minus three per cent.
