Three high-ranking politicians of President Jean-Bertrand Aristides party were arrested in connection with the beheading of three police officers.
The police officers are believed to have been executed during violent clashes on Friday.
This incident sparks suspicion that Mr. Aristides supporters might be imitating Iraq kidnappers execution style.
In defense, Mr. Aristide dismissed all ties with the murder and claims that he was abducted by US agents.
However, the Senate president, Yvon Fuille, and two other supporters strongly expelled Mr. Aristides denial of his involvement with the homicides.
The detainment ended an 11-hour standoff where scores of police officers surrounded the building of an independent radio station, Radio Caribes FM in which the politicians were conducting a debate.
