Effective June 18, the US Embassy in Barbados will no longer provide same day visa issuance to applicants not residing in Barbados. With the new procedure, successful applicants will return home with their passports, then send the passport back to the consulate via courier service. Embassy officials will then place the visa in the passport, and have it mailed back to the home country, at the applicants expense. According to the US Embassy, they expect this service to make the process more convenient for applicants who encounter flight problems when their visa processing gets delayed. The estimated price for courier service is an additional US$40
