A more robust-looking Fidel Castro was shown in new video footage broadcast on Cuban television. This is the latest indication that the ailing Cuban leader may have recovered from his life-threatening health crisis. The convalescing leader was shown on state-controlled television, as he met with the visiting head of Vietnam's Communist Party, Nong Duc Manh. In brief words on television Castro said "Vietnam is a brother country, a country that we will never forsake," Castro appeared to have put on some weight since the last film footage was broadcast. He met with the Vietnamese leader for about two hours, according to an official.
