Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), Vincent Vanderpool Wallace says the Caribbean needs to vibes up its marketing image. Caribbean Tourism Marketers seem to have forgotten the elements which first brought recognition to the region, such as music and rum, Vanderpool Wallace said. The CTO believes that the marketers have been underselling their product and promoting a beautiful picture and price which does little to give a competitive advantage over similar destinations. The Secretary General maintained that his views were not based on speculation but on findings from a tourism marketing survey which compared the tourism product in the Caribbean with other sun sea and sand destinations such as the Far East, which have led to his recommendation to put the life back in Caribbean marketing. |
